United Way Women’s Leadership Council

Monday, October 17th, 2011

Genesis II is honored to announce that, in addition to our United Way funding for our parenting programming being renewed, we have received two grant awards from the United Way Women’s Leadership Council. One is a Therapeutic Preschool Grant of $40,000 for 2012 which allows us to add therapeutic preschool services in our First Step Early Childhood Education Center. The second is an Innovation Funding grant of $300,000 over three years to support our clinical intern program, and allow us to expand, evaluate and create a process for other nonprofits to replicate this model in their own service delivery.

Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

Genesis II for Families provides family strengthening services for families in the Twin Cities metro area, including parent education, therapeutic parent child interaction coaching, early childhood education, mentoring, life skills training and wraparound case management support.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Due to financial constraints, our clients are unable to have the type of holiday everyone deserves.  Join with your family members, co-workers, and friends to make this year special for the individuals and families in our programs by “adopting” them for the holidays!

IF YOU ARE  INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING:

  • Please fill out the Sponsor Registration Form (click on form name to open or down load it) and return it to Gensis II for Families either via email (preferred), fax, mail, or hand delivery. Return information is listed on the registration form.
  • Each family’s wish list will be sent out to sponsors in November.
  • Please wrap all gifts and label them with each individual’s name.
  • Wrapped gifts can be dropped off at Genesis II for Families during the week of December 5th-9th between 8am–4pm.

If you would like to get more involved and Sponsor a Holiday Party for clients, let us know.  Parties will occur during regular programming times during the week of December 12th–16th.  Sponsors can provide the meal; lead crafts, games, or songs; and/or help pass out the Adopt-A-Family gifts.  A great opportunity for small groups!

Genesis II featured by the United Way

Genesis II for Families is featured by the United Way as a turn-around agency, becoming financially and organizationally strong through solid planning and decisive action. See video conversation with executive director Michelle Basham and board chair Lucy Swift about the impact their respective roles played in a three-year process of transitioning the organization. Basham and Swift are featured speakers at the United Way’s “United Front” event at the St. Paul River Centre October 6th.
